PRESENTATION THE XXIII-rd NATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL
I.INTRODUCTION Nedelino’s two-voices singing is a unique manifestation of the vocal tradition in the Rhodopes. It exists in this part of the mountain from the ancient times. As the only one of its kind in the Rhodopes, like the singing in Sofia district, Graovska, Pirinska, it attracts the attention of experts in the middle of the last century. The first person who was impressed by Nedelino’s two-voices singing and presents it among the experts in Bulgaria and abroad is Professor Doctor Nikolay Kauphman. He is a famous expert in the folklore and honorable citizen of our town. Till now there are 350 collected and written in notes songs. The festival was born from the numerous regional reviews of the artistically performances and many performances in the fairs in Koprivchitza and Rojzen, in contests and festivals in Germany, France, Britain, the USA. The groups and performers from the municipality of Nedelino have a dozens of prestige awards from different national and international performances. It is a tradition in Nedelino once a year in the centre of our town to see talent, beauty and emotion and the mixture of all that attracts the attention of citizens and guests. The Folklore festival of two –voices singing and folklore songs inspires more and more young people to learn and perform national Bulgarian folklore songs. From the 2017 Nedelino’s two-voices singing is a subject in the Academy for music, dance and art in Plovdiv. It was the mayor of Nedelino municipality Boyan Kehayov who suggested to create classes for two-voices singing after a partnership agreement between the Municipality of Nedelino and the Academy in Plovdiv.
II. ORGANIZERS The National Folklore Festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Nedelino, held during the first weekend of September.
III. MAIN OBJECTIVES
IV. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION The beneficiaries are all children, youth, girls and adults - singers, musicians and dancers from across the countryand all the neighboring countries. They are divided into five age groups:
A. INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS Participants perform two songs - fast and slow. From the slow one, one to two couplets, from the fast one - up to three couplets.
B. AUTHENTIC FOLKLORE GROUP AND CUSTOMS The number of participants in the group (children , female, male, mixed ) are from 9 to 18 people , and in the chamber - duets , trios , quartets , quintets up to 6 people. Groups perform two songs from the region which last up to five minutes, and those who present folk tradition - up to 10 minutes, accompaniment is optional.
C. INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS AND ORCHESTRAS The number of participants is from 4 to 20 instrumentalists. They Perform two plays - fast and slow, lasting up to 5 minutes. Folk orchestras present two solo instrumental pieces - fast and slow or more lasting up to 6 minutes.
D. DANCE GROUPS, CLUBS AND ENSEMBLES The number of chamber groups are up to 6 people, for clubs and ensembles to 40. Chamber performances are within 5 minutes, and the ensemble - 15 minutes. They can provide authentic dances of the region, as well as originaldance performances.
REQUIREMENTS AND AWARDS:
All singers, musicians , dancers and actors for folk customs must be dressed in costumes typical for the folk field. There shall be no change in the order of performances and duration. For non-compliance, the jury has the right to interrupt the performance.
FUNDING:
The 23 rd National folklore festival is funded by budgetary funds of Nedelino Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and other donors and is tax free for participation.
